Taste the Love in Every Bite!

The Eicher family has always been known for their love of creating giant-sized items. It all started in 1973 when Larry Eicher made a 90-inch pizza for the Montpelier Locomotives football team after their winning season. This was just the beginning as Larry went on to create a 25-pound hamburger for his daughter's swim team, and in December of 1991, he made a huge sub sandwich which measured 52 inches in length.

The tradition of making giant-sized items continued, and on October 14th, 2017, Tarry Eicher celebrated the anniversary of Eicher's Subs by creating a Williams County record pizza measuring a whopping 180 inches! This was a remarkable achievement and a testament to the Eicher family's dedication to making things larger than life.

Everything Big!

At Eicher's Subs, you'll not only get to indulge in some of the most delicious subs and pizza in town, but you'll also be treated to a rich history that spans several generations. Originally founded by Larry Eicher, the business is now owned and operated by his daughter, Tarry Eicher, who has kept the family tradition alive with her passion for serving up mouth-watering food.

During the summer months, you can find Eicher's Subs food truck at local fairs, where they offer an extensive menu of subs made with the freshest ingredients. From classic favorites to unique creations, there's something for everyone to enjoy. In the winter months, Eicher's Subs Pizza Shop is the go-to destination for a warm, comforting meal. Their pizzas are made from scratch using homemade dough and sauce, and topped with the finest meats, veggies, and cheeses. Whether you prefer a classic or a more adventurous option, you won't be disappointed.

But Eicher's Subs isn't just about the food - it's also a place where you can experience the history and tradition of this beloved family business. When you visit, you'll be warmly greeted by Tarry and her team, who are always happy to share stories from the past and answer any questions you may have. Eicher's Subs

In 1981, Larry Eicher did something a little different and purchased a small peanuts concession trailer for use at various fairs and events. During the fair season, the boosters manned the trailer and received a percentage of the gross. Larry provided everything for the trailer except for the people.

Fast forward to 2015, and we find Tarry Eicher continuing the tradition of providing delicious food to fairgoers. Tarry opened her food truck for the fair season and her specialty sub sandwiches have been a hit ever since. The food truck is up and running today and can be found on the calendar during the fair season. It's a testament to the enduring legacy of Larry Eicher's contribution to the boosters, and a reminder of the important role that concession stands and food trucks have played in the history of fairs and other events.

First Food Truck

On November 28th, 1972, Larry and Ilene Eicher purchased the Haufman House from its previous owner, Hack Haufman. Over time, the Haufman House became Eicher's Haufman House, know for its unique pizzas an "big-sized" servings, thanks to Larry's innovative pizza creations.

Larry, who was nicknamed, "the Pizza King" and "the German with the Italian touch", was a master at combining different ingredients and odd customer requests to create delicious and unusual pizza flavors. Some of his creations were the peanut butter & jelly pizza, the dessert pizzas, and giant pizzas for the community. Larry loved experimenting and pushing the boundaries of traditional-pizza, which made Eicher's Haufman House a favorite among pizza lovers.

Eicher's Haufman House was also known for making their own homemade dough for the rolls and buns! Eicher's Haufman House had a family atmosphere that catered to the community. Larry and Ilene's daughters, Terry, Penny, Tammy, and Patty, all played a role in the business, contributing to the restaurant's appeal and success. Over the years, the Eicher family worked hard to maintain the restaurant's reputation for quality food and exceptional service.

Eicher's Haufman House

Larry and Ilene Eicher's had humble beginnings with a small restaurant in Metamora, Ohio, which eventually paved the way for the establishment of Eicher's Subs. The L & I Restaurant, even though it was a small part of their lives, it was just the start of their incredible journey! Today, their daughter, Tarry Eicher, owns and operates Eicher's Subs and continues to serve the community with the same dedication as when Larry and Ilene Eicher first started!
